1. Information We Collect
When you create a MusicWrite account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored as a secure hash). When you use Google sign-in, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We do not collect payment card numbers — all billing is handled by Stripe, our PCI-compliant payment processor.
We also collect usage data such as songs you create, playlists, and listening history, as well as standard technical data including IP addresses, browser type, and device information for security and analytics purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve the MusicWrite service, send transactional emails (account verification, password resets, subscription receipts), process subscription payments via Stripe, personalize your music library, and communicate platform updates. We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
3. AI-Generated Content
Prompts and lyrics you submit are sent to Google Gemini and Lyria 3 Pro APIs to generate songs. These prompts are processed in accordance with Google's data usage policies. Public songs you publish on MusicWrite are visible to all users. Private songs are stored securely in Cloudflare R2 and accessible only to you.
4. Data Retention
Your account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data and private songs are permanently removed within 30 days. Public songs you have published may be retained in anonymized form.
5. Third-Party Services
MusicWrite integrates with: Google (authentication, Gemini AI, Lyria music AI), Stripe (payment processing), Cloudflare R2 (audio and image storage), and MongoDB Atlas (database). Each service operates under its own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.
6. Cookies
We use session cookies to keep you logged in (via NextAuth.js) and analytics cookies to understand usage patterns. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, though some features may not function correctly without them. See our Cookie Policy for more details.
7. Your Rights
You may access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time from your account settings. You may also request a data export or account deletion by contacting us at privacy@musicwrite.net. If you are in the EU or EEA, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to restrict processing and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.
8. Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption, bcrypt password hashing, and secure token-based authentication. Despite these measures, no internet service is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of MusicWrite after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
